Generation Gap - How technology has changed the work of communicators and influenced the training they need

Old and Young – Abundant Life

A communicator presents his/her opinion, ideas and thoughts through a language to his/her audience. He/she tries to bring together his/her audience to a unified conclusion, as much as possible.  Modern day technology has widened the language gap between the old and young generation (generation gap).  The way the ideas and examples are presented by the communicator needs to be relatable and understandable by the wider age group of his/her audience. The choice and style of language composition, in the presentation of information, is also influenced by this.

This creates an issue of age barrier (generation gap), due to wider range of ages in the audience, for the communicator. This has influenced the need for training of communicators. Audience is influenced by the logic and emotions presented to them. The information should be conveyed in such a way that it should be acceptable to the wider audience. The communicator should develop skills through training so as to bring the wide age gap and language barrier of the audience into account. The communicators should be trained so that the information presented is understandable for all generations. The presentation, delivery and flow of information in the form of illustrations and examples should cater to the wider age group in the audience.
